This year’s Montreal Grand Prix will take place from 7th to 9th June and is 72 hours of pure vroom vroom where Montreal comes alive with excitement not only about the race, but about the pure buzz that engulfs the whole city. The Formula One Grand Prix takes place on the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit at the stunning Île Notre-Dame and is enjoyed by thousands of visitors from all over the globe every year. The Montreal Grand Prix has been part of the Formula One World Championships since 1967. Formula 1, or F1, refers to the highest class of single-seater car racing and in Montreal you will be able to watch the highest caliber cars driven by the world’s best drivers around 70 laps of the 4.4km track. You will see the top teams in action, such as Red Bull Racing which currently lies in first place in the standings and whose driver, Sebastian Vettel is triple world champion driver of 2010, 2011 and 2012. Other teams at the top of the rankings include Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes team and Lotus-Renault.
The first day of the racing is devoted to practice which moves to the qualifying stages on 8th June. The final day is the main race day. In addition to the main F1 attraction there are also a number of other races: the Ferrari Challenge, the Porsche IMSA GT3 Cup and the Formula 1600. Whether you are supporting a favorite driver or preferred team, or are just in it for the fun, you will get completely caught up in the excitement, the adrenaline and the sheer noise that is F1 racing.
There are also plenty of other attractions beyond the racetrack in the beautiful city of Montreal during this lively long weekend. There are hundreds and hundreds of restaurants to choose from, all gearing themselves up to serve the finest cuisine during the F1 event. Several musicians are flying in to entertain the masses: on Thursday 7th June, Bob Sinclar will be performing a live DJ set at Club Terrasses Bonsecours which overlooks the St. Lawrence River and offers panoramic river and city views; CeeLo Green will perform at the ever popular Club Arena on Friday 8th June and with capacity for over 800 clients is guaranteed to provide a rousing night.
