Carlo’s Bakery was founded in 1910 by Carlo Guastaferro, purchased by Buddy Valastro Sr. in 1964, and passed on to Buddy Valastro Jr. Currently, Buddy Jr. runs the bakery together with his four older sisters, three brothers-in-law and other family members and friends. Today, Buddy Valastro is one of the most successful and renowned cake artists in the United States. Buddy is truly the Cake Boss, having created some of the most exquisite cakes with mind-blowing designs. This includes Britney Spears’ circus‐themed 27th birthday cake, which took approximately 60 hours to make!
The bakery rose to fame in April 2009 with the premiere of Cake Boss, a reality television series on TLC that represent the staff of the shop creating their elaborate baked goods. One episode of The Cake Boss is a half‐hour focus on Buddy as he manages the demanding yet booming business. When you’re working with family on a daily basis, there can be a lot of misunderstanding, but at the end of the day, family is family. And in this case, the family works amazingly well together!
